Armed Forces Day Saturday 29 June

Armed Forces Day takes place on Saturday 29 June and is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community – from currently serving personnel to Service families, veterans and cadets.

The Armed forces community covenant (GOV.UK) is a voluntary statement of mutual support. It exists between a civilian community and its local Armed Forces community.

The Armed Forces Day flag will be raised at Halifax Town Hall and The Mayor invites you to attend the flag raising ceremony on Friday 28 June from 10am at Broad Street Plaza. Tea and coffee will also be available in the Parlour at the Town Hall following the ceremony.

On Saturday 29 June, there’ll be a free fun day for all the family from 9am-5pm on Southgate, Halifax Town Centre. There will be stalls, military vehicles, equipment, a medical tent and full field kitchen, plus much more. Representatives from the armed forces will be there, so come along and find out more about military life past and present.

To celebrate, the libraries will also have a display of military related books on display in central library.
